Any good essay should begin with a clearly written thesis statement. There are a variety of formats for bibliographies, depending on what writing style your students are using. For example, you might set a certain number of required sources in the rubric.Students that meet that number of sources earn a higher score, while students that fall short of that number earn a lower score.Rubrics are a useful tool for setting expectations and grading student work. This lesson will provide you with examples for a rubric you can use when teaching and assessing research papers written by your students. It would probably be impossible to read and understand.Research papers need to be similarly organized clearly. In this statement, the author should set out their topic so the reader knows exactly what they are going to be reading about. In a research paper, a thesis statement should clearly outline what the topic of the essay is and the broad category of facts that will be included.Rubrics can be used to score work by assigning a point value to a student's performance in each of the categories.A clearer example of this will be detailed throughout the rest of the lesson. Zero is the lowest score a student can receive in a category and three is the highest.
